singer and composer Dina El Wedidi has carved herself a critical
place in the global music scene, creating music that she describes as
New Egyptian Folk and Arab Fusion. A protégé of the great Brazilian
music icon Gilberto Gil, El Wedidi’s original songs draw on folklore,
rituals, and early twentieth-century popular music, as well as global
ideas and explorations.
